Jamie in April

Jamie is now 7 months old - isn't he a doll?

Sara's 5th Birthday (a couple of days later)

I know I am partial, but isn't she beautiful. And Phillip is a good looking young man also who just turned 9.

A Trip to the Zoo

William's family, Adam & Cynthia, Taylor Guzman and I went to the zoo. I think they really enjoyed it a lot - even if Jamie did sleep through most of the time.

Zoo Animals

A handful of the animals we saw. I sat out with Jamie while the others went to some areas. I will go back another time. I did enjoy see the turtles lined up on the log in the above photo.

DID IT!

Well, I actually, finally did it. It's time to start using the Metro system. I downloaded the application for a disability card and Jill (from Dr. Horwitz' office) faxed it back to me. So this morning around 9, I said it's time. I drove downtown to 5th Street (near G) and went to the main Metro headquarters, where I waited, went to another area, and waited more. I had to go to an office where they checked the application, ID, medical report, Medicare card, etc. and finally gave me a form stating that I could get a Disability Card. Then I had to go outside and stand in line (26 persons in front of me), and purchase the actual card. From there, I was told to go to a Metro Station and activate it, so I drove to Fort Totten, activated it by putting money in for it, and finally, I was finished. Now I can use it on the rail or bus and it will be half fare. Hope the first of next week is pretty days, for I am going to break it in!

The lower picture is just the tree we stood under while we were in line! It is such a beautiful time of year.

Fun Time

Rachel Wixom called me around 1 and wanted to know if I would like to go to the DC Farmer's Market. Of course, I said yes - and told her I would drive. It is on Penn Street - off of New York Avenue and there are blocks of various wholesale stores, lots of t-shirts, hats, DC souvenirs, scarfs, etc. and many food stores beside the Farmer's Market - which I loved!
One of my favorites was the Mexican Fruits store. I actually purchased 2 heads of cabbage, 1 cantaloupe, 8 tangelos, 3 kiwi, 4 lemons, 1 grapefruit, spring onions, 1 zucchini, celery, and 2 Roma tomatoes for $11.00! You have to pick over it carefully to get the good, firm items, but I can do that. They also had bananas, potatoes, onions, and much more - including cactus leaves!
There are fish stores, meat stores, and at the Farmers Market you can purchase any kind of meat and spices you want with lots of fresh fruit also. We did indulge in a most delicious fruit smoothie with fresh pineapple, mango, papaya, strawberries, and banana. Um, um, good.
This is going to be a favorite place for me.

New Parking

When I went to the temple Tuesday (Mar. 31st), there was a crew of approximately 30, and 3 cement trucks pouring new concrete on the parking lot. They were really working.
