Manhattan New York Temple

Other than being with Nancy, my large desire was to visit the Manhattan Temple, and I did. It is beautiful and I am thankful I had the opportunity to visit it. The two top photos are the bicycle and "driver" that carried me thru Central Park - he went out of his way to take me within a block of the temple, which was really nice. Also, from the intersection at the temple, you can see Lincoln Center, where they were advertising the showing of South Pacific.

Central Park

Just a few of the snapshots from Central Park. I have always wanted to go to Central Park and this day was a dream come true. The apartment house is on Central Park Boulevard and is where John Lennon was shot and killed.

William"s Place?

On one of our walks, I saw this sign and had to take a photo for my William. Nancy actually lives in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn, hence the name. I thought it was a cute sign.

Hair Cut

Taking a walk to the park, I saw this beauty salon and, spur of the moment decision, I had a hair cut. It feels so wonderful. My hair has only been trimmed once in the last two years, since it came back the second time and I had some lengths about 1", some as long as 4", and all lengths in between. The operator did an extremely good job - it is a little shorter than I really like, but it is so comfortable and I am grateful I went there. I took a picture of the shop, so I can return there whenever I make it back to visit.

Eating, eating, eating

Just a glimpse of the many times we enjoyed the food of Brooklyn. When I travel anywhere, I always want to try something I cannot get at home, and there were so many places to choose from. I find I love fish tacos, the crepes were the best I have ever eaten, pulled pork which reminded me of the North Carolina pork, the dinner I had with Nancy and her friends was possibly the best meal I have ever had and I cannot think of the name of the restaurant - but it was a pork chop to die for and glazed apples that I would love to have the recipe for. I also had one of the best breakfast meals that I have ever eaten that had a fabulous hash brown pattie. It was truly an experience. We did eat often at home, and Nancy introduced me to Nutella and Banana Sandwiches on a thin whole wheat roll. I have purchased those ingredients and continue to enjoy them now at home. (By the way, the bottle on the table was water - that's the way it is served in all the restaurants there.)

Part of the Family

Gracie and Disco very graciously shared their home with me. Disco enjoyed my being there to awaken each morning to ask for food. She would gently pat me at first, then rub more forcefully until I was fully awake and usually got her food. Gracie just stood by and watched, knowing she would also be fed. They are beautiful and a lot of company to Nancy. She has had them a very long time, and they are a big part of her life and our family.

Farewell to New York

Time to go home. I really enjoyed my entire visit to the "big city". What wonderful memories. Thank you Nancy for such a great time.
