Morning Greeting!

I stepped two feet out my door and this is my entrance this morning. The stairs to Cynthia's back door are completely covered. I have to admit, though, it is very pretty.
AND....it is still snowing, but not as heavy as last night.

Snow Storm - February 6, 2010

I have a full tank of gas, but this doesn't look like I will be using any of it in the next couple of days.
I am supposed to be on jury duty on Monday - wonder how that will work. I hope the courts will be closed!

Puzzles, Books, Crocheting .. oh, boy

Well, it is now 3:20 p.m. on Friday, and we are under a weather watch for at least 30 more hours with a forecast accumulation of 1-2 feet total snow by tomorrow night. Even the temple is closed tonight and tomorrow! Metro is closing all above ground lines, buses are running on snow routes as long as they can and we have been told to stay off the streets and be prepared to "hunker down" for 3-5 days. So, I have just finished this puzzle, have six more new ones; I have some yarn I can crochet if I get in the mood, and I went to the thrift store and purchased seven "light" reading books - romance and suspense. I also got a new Betty Crocker Cookbook yesterday on 300 calorie meals, so if the electricity stays on, I will be perfectly happy trying new recipes, and enjoying the puzzles, books, and of course, the computer. We do have it good in 2010!
Last week, I was able to shovel and clean my walk and driveway - with 2' possible, I make no promises for this time, so I may be snowbound for a bit. I hope everyone will enjoy the beauty of the snow, and spend time with those you love and enjoy this opportunity to "slow down" in this busy world and enjoy those persons and things that are most important.

Snow, Snow and More Snow

I do not think I will be sitting in the swing for a few days. DC has had more snow this season than they have had since 2002. And more is in the forecast for Friday!
I do not like having to be retired for health reasons, but I must admit, I am enjoying today. I have a new 500 piece (very difficult) puzzle thanks to Arika and Joe, plenty of food and drink, and while there is much I could be doing, there is nothing I HAVE to do today, so I am having a great day!

Fun Family Time

Elisa and the boys came and spent the day with me on Monday, Feb. 1. It was a teacher's workday at Phillip's school, but also wound up being a snow day. We had lunch at Etete's - which served some of the best fish I have ever eaten, and dinner at McDonald's in Union Station as we waited for the train for their return home. It was truly a wonderful day.

Aquarium - DC

It is not the best aquarium I have been to, but we enjoyed it. I just enjoyed being with Elisa, Phillip, and Jamie.

Silly Boy

This reminds me of what my boys would have done. We only had a very short time for the American History Museum, but we will go back sometime. Hey, Phillip, you are so cute!
